In Loving Memory to Donald Matthias Seger Sr.

April 11, 1921 - June 16, 2008

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Don Seger passed into eternal life this evening at 6:18 p.m. surrounded by his family.

"May our Loving Father rest in peace ... Please continue to keep our Mom, Betty, in your prayers.

The Seger Family wishes to thank you sincerely for all your love, support and
prayers during this time."

God Bless You!
The Don Seger Family

Hello Folks. Happy Father's Day. Thanks for everyone who continues to send in information and photos to add to the USS Idaho website. I apologise for being so late in updates as my time for working on the site has been limited due to my present work obligations. If I have missed adding a name to the Crew List, please contact me again to let me know and I will be glad to include.

Jesse Batson

I want to send a special "Happy Father's Day" to Jesse Batson. Mr. Batson's grandson, Doug Batson was so kind to send many of his Navy photos and articles and are included in two parts in this update of the USS Idaho website.

Doug also sent a VHS of Mr. Batson's reflections of days on the Idaho. I have converted the VHS to a digital movie and will be including to the website as soon as I can convert to a smaller file for viewing.

Thanks again for your contribution.

I am the daughter of one of the crew that was on the USS Idaho and I'd like to change one of the names. My father is James Lewis Bentley and his name is on the crew list. However, after making a cope of the list and sending it to him, he told me his rank and dates were incorrect. I'd like to make that change. He was on the Idaho from 1940 to 1943 and he was a Baker 2nd Class.

I so appreciate the work you have done on this website almost as much as I appreciate each and every man that served in Our Nation's Military. My father has often told me stories of being on the Idaho and I treasure each of them. He is living in Alabama and is now 86 years old and in good health.

For Father's Day I sent him some of the stories from your website as he doesn't have a computer. So, this is a thank you from me and my father.

Keep up the good work, it means so much to all of us.
Thank you again,

Rena Bentley Inmon

Hi Dave,
My name is Gail Seger Lindsey, I am Don Seger's oldest daughter, I live in Phoenix, Arizona not too far from mom and dad.

My dad was thrilled to receive his special Birthday call... and we pulled up the USS Idaho's website so he could view his Birthday Greeting on the USS Idaho's Homepage... He was very honored... Thank you so very much for all your good work in keeping the memories alive for these brave soldiers.

I am so thankful that dad's eyesight hung in there long enough for him to have enjoyed viewing and contributing to this wonderful tribute to the USS Idaho and it's crew. I have attached a photo of the computer screen of the Birthday Greeting for Don Seger's 87th Birthday... and a photo of him viewing it... and a photo of him at his party... with my mom (Betty) and one of his grandson's Marky and one of his great grandson's Elijah.

Thank you from Don Seger and all of the Seger Family.

Betty & Don Seger

Thank you from Don Seger and all of the Seger Family.
