In 1972,
the Country Gentlemen signed with Vanguard Records,
an association that would produce two albums. The first is the most
contemporary and illustrates teh in fluence that Bill Emerson
was having upon the Gentlemen repertoire at the time.
Another Charlie Waller standard was a lesser known Kris
Kristofferson effort, "Casey's Last Ride". This album
was Bill Emerson's last recorded appearance with The Country
Gentlemen, who departed to join the U.S. Navy Band , and head
up their country and bluegrass unit (Country Current).
